I have a problem getting my display to align properly. I just installed it earlier today and I installed the software. It was working right away, but all the text seemed to be messed up. The text (when left-aligned) still starts about 5-6 characters from the left and I can't seem to fix this problem...

Have you tried updating the USB Composite Device in the Device Manager? I have often found that is the case for USB devices that are installed and show up as "Unknown". Go into the USB section, right click on the USB Composite Device, and point to the location of the Matrix Orbital drivers.
