Ok. I got it to work. I set the default backlight intensity to 0 to prevent the flash at startup then override the intensity to full just after power up. I didn't see this because I had an older version of the manual and these commands are not listed.
thanks.

Setting default backlight state
The command to erase the startup screen worked great. Thanks.
I'm having some trouble getting the command to change the backlight state to work. This command appears to set the backlight intensity which isn't what I want because I can't turn the backlight on when the user presses the backlight ...

Removing startup message from GLK12232
I'm building an embedded device using the GLK12232. How do I remove the startup screen and set the default backlight state to off? I have my own EEPROM with settings and would like to use that as the default. Basically, I want the powerup state to be a blank screen with no backlight so that I can ...

SCL stuck at 0 on GLK12232-25-SM
I bought a new GLK12232-25-SM and I desoldered the RS-232 pads and soldered the I2C pads. When I use the display, I can't signal a start condition. I checked the display with a multimeter, and the SCL pin on the display is always pulling the bus low. Is this a defect in the display, or am I doing ...

Is it possible to get the full mechanical specifications for the connector. The pin spacing, the pin size, and the distance of the connector from the edge of the display. Also, I noticed that the display has some tabs that look like that are ment to go through holes on the PCB and get hot glued in ...

Connector for MOP-GL12232D-BGFW
I'm a hobbiest and bought the MOP-GL12232D-BGFW to play with because I want to display arbitrary graphics with my project and none of the serial devices seem to have this ability(some allow you to upload bitmaps into EEPROM, but that isn't exactly arbitrary graphics in my opinion). I assume the ...

Questions about the GLK12232-25-SM
I have a few questions about the GLK12232-25-SM that don't seems to be answered in the manual. I'm planning to use the unit with a PIC chip.
1. Are inline graphics possible? The manual seems to say that it's possible to display a bitmap without uploading it to the memory. But the manual doesn't ...
