Low to high power GPO's in a flash!

Fancy controlling your case fans, lighting or any high power device with the low power GPO's on your MO display? I'm going to show you how at any rate, so if you don't best look away :) The basic premise is a simple one, let's use a beefy transistor as a digital switch to isolate the lower power GPO...

The slow quit time is due to the time out on the failed flow control return I think, to be expected if the LCD isn't responding to LCDC...

lol oops, sorry musta misread. Ok so when the LCD is frozen you just mean it stops responding to LCDC commands until you stop and start LCDC, i.e. when the LCD freezes if you quit LCDC and fire up MODG, all is well? If so I doubt it's the lcd (a good thing) and could well be the way LCDC addresses y...

Well to use an LCD as a baybus you need high power GPO's, and to get an MO LCD to fit in a single 5.25" bay (and the circuit board not overlap) you need to use a 2x20 display or smaller... so that only leaves you with the 2x20 USB and its three high power GPO's. Now the problem is you're limite...

Re: Faceplate assembly for USB display?

Que Is the B2021 the right choice? Clearly I don't need the serial cable. My understanding is that this faceplate is black with clear lexan over the display area. Is this true Yep and yep. And can I buy an extra one of those USB cables with the internal motherboard USB connector end from you? It sh...

Why don't you buy any MO 2x20 in a 5x25" bay insert, drill some holes in it and fit both the lcd and the baybus into the same bay? Best of both worlds :)

Can't you try the display in another PC? I don't think LCDC would freeze even if the flow control returns never came (because it doesn't if a display isn't plugged in!), so I suspect your serial port is doing somehting silly...

Yeah, I have already looked at the size of the things, i thought there could be a chance it would fit. For the GLC24064-EL anyways. Anybody think I could Mod it to fit? It's a fair while since I've had a 24064 but I'm sure it was wider than my case, let alone a single bay - I'm pressty sure it won'...

No, not even close.

Have a look at their manuals for sizes.

There's no way of doing that.

You can auto turn off the cursor on starting LCDC though, see LCDC's manual.

Or can you power it by USB OR from the PSU? Indeed you can! If you want to use its three 12V high power GPO's you plug a normally floppy power cable in the back and change a jumper on the back :) For the noral GPO's (5V) you can just use USB power. Rob. p.s. The filters are made from 1-2mm thick plastic, you could cut one down to size (probably best to score and snap) but it's not an ideal solution (they have a stickie outline for attaching to the vfd).

You can buy a big roll of blue gel from maplin for around
