Ok just verified, the answers to backlight and contrast questions, these are not implemented at the moment so you cannot access them.

For backlight once you set it you can keep track of it your selve, the contrast you are indeed out of luck.

These properties will be added in future versions.

Something like this might work, (and a couple more show up when searching for usb or serial over ethernet on google) but we have never tested such a setup so we cannot guarantee it will actually work.

That is a bug in the current version of Mogd# this will be fixed in a future update that will probably be up on our websites in a couple of weeks. If you want a whitespace size optimized font before that let me know the font and the size and I'll generate it for you and post it here.

It pretty much boils down to taste, there soo many XML editors out there I'd say try a few and stick with the one you like.

As long as you have a PC there (since the GX is an usb device) and can write some software on your own to obtain the values of the things you want to display you should be able to display them without too much problems.
