Crazy characters on LCD2041 rev 1.5

Post by pacopad »

Hi All,

I got an old LCD2041 i never succed to get work :). I decided to get it ou from the desk a few days ago. I got always the same problems, it does nt display the characters i enter in the terminal. for example , it displays "@" when i type "p". The demo software doesn't work too. i tried with all speed possibilites in RS232 and TTL. Same result , crappy display ?

Is there a thing to test ? a firmware to flash ,

Thank you for your return

Hi Pacopad,

I Understand you are having trouble communicating with you LCD2041 Rev 1.5.
I have one working through uProject and it is communicating properly.

I have the port settings set as follows:
Baud: 19200
8 data Bits
No Parity
1 Stop bit
Flow control is off.

The display itself is set to the same and in RS232 with
jumpers set to J1 and J2 (the 2 in the center) and jumpers setting the Display into RS232.

can you confirm how your display is set up?

If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to ask
Thank you

Hi Pacopad,

Unfortunately I have tried but can not replicate the issue you are having with your display.

You could send the display in for further analysis and repair. Although the display is not likely still under warranty. Which will leave you responsible for the shipping both way, labor cost and cost of any parts needed for repair. Which could be expensive.

Another option is a newer version of the display.
The newer version of the display has many different features such as:
Baud rate is software controlled
3 GPOs instead of 1.
Protocol Select Block to switch between Protocols

Just to name a few. If you would like to see more of the newer version here is a link to the manual

If you have any other questions or concerns please don't hesitate to ask.
Thank you
Martino.
