is it dead

Post by firehorse »

Hi all,
I think my vk202-24usb and lk202-24usb have died after many years
this is after cleaning the pc so it may be my fault, dunno
maybe not

This is whats happening:

WinXP SP3 is detecting the hardware, & the install "USB driver pops up"

I point it to the folder called mtx-ftdi-2.08.30-4

then it says it cant find the driver

is it dead ?

I tried other cables & other PC's no joy

Hi Firehorse

Can I ask what PCB Revision your LK202-24-USB and your VK202-24-USB are?

Also when you say "died" do you mean they are not powering up or you can not communicate to them?

Lastly could you go into device manager and check what the VID & PID is for both units and let me know. This will help determine if this is a driver issue or not.
To find the VID & PID you will have to:
1. open "Device Manager"
2. go into the Properties of the device
3. select the "Details" tab
4. in the drop down menu select "Hardware Ids".

If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to ask.
Thank you

Hi Martino

I just found the problem was the wrong drivers

I initially downloaded & installed this driver:

== 32/64 Bit USB Drivers Version 2.08.30-4 ==

It failed and Blue screen all the time

I went to the installation guide link below and states:

http://www.lcdforums.com/forums/viewtop ... f=1&t=1032

/ This guide is for all the USB models of the display. Some of the information may change, like descriptions or product numbers.

Tested OS's:

*Windows 98
*Windows 98SE
*Windows ME
*Windows 2000 Pro
*Windows XP Home
*Windows XP Pro

Installing Windows USB Drivers

The MX2, MX3, MX4, MX5 and any other USB display will require Windows drivers to operate that can be downloaded from here or directly from the eCD. The drivers will create a "Virtual COM Port" on your computer, allowing you to use any LCD software or utilities.

USB DRIVER link
/

**** It says it will support XP, so does that mean driver 22.08.30-4 is for newer OS's ?????? ***

And yes PID and VID are there too :)

It works perfect now

thank you :)

Hey Firehorse,

are you using the newest drivers?

Or a different set?

Thank you for posting your solution.
