Current Requirements on Parallel LCD

I've looked through the data sheet of the MOP-AL162A-BBTW and don't see much on the current requirements of the display. The only only current specified in the data sheet is the supply current, Idd, which is typically 1.2mA. So this is the current required by pin 2. On the website, it says the supply current is 10mA... which one is correct?

What is the current required by all the other pins? Specifically, what is the supply current requirement of pin3, Vo? What is the supply current requirement of RS, R/W, E, and DB0-DB7? What is the supply current of the backlight?

Hi Jon,
The supply requirements are as follows:

Code: Select all

pins 4,5,6 RS,R/W,E 1.2mA (Idd/logic)
pin 2 LCD 0.2mA (Ilcd)
pin 3 contrast voltage driven input; negligible current
pin 15 backlight anode 40mA (If) for the white backlight
120mA (If) for the yellow-green backlight
I wonder if you can please tell me where you found the 10mA supply current that you found in the website?
I hope that this clarifies your question.

Here is the link to the website...

http://www.matrixorbital.com/product_in ... acter-lcds

Towards the bottom of the page under Power Requirements, it says supply 10mA, and backlight 150mA.

What about the current requirements for DB0-DB7?

Hi Jon,
Thanks for pointing the link. I apologize for any inconvenience regarding this matter. Unfortunatley the details listed on our website have not been updated. We are still working out the kinks with our new website. We will be rectifying the details as we know they are very important.
The D0 to D7 lines count as logic lines and so they also require 1.2mA.
