Heres my ongoing project, the LCD is not in place though...

Waiting for my IXT-board from VIA to arrive, and then it's basically done :)

Well heres some pics, I'll post more when it's completed.

Unit : LK204-25-PC
Difficulty : 3/10

I mounted this display in a clear window - pretty simple stuff, it is secured to the window simply using the standard mounting kit.

well i'll get in the fray,
Difficulty: whole project, pain in the... VFD mounting medium.
unit: VK204-25

The vfd is mounted in a high polished peice of opaque black acrylic which is mounted into the case with industrial velcro so that it can be easily removed for transport. when its off almost no one knows its there but it is really noticable when it on and running.
i used a Mo VFD with blue filter on this puppy, placed 4th in the summer CPL. the picture was taken by cold dog because i couldn't find a good one that showed the LCD nicely. it in the middle under the monitor if you wanted to know.

the text was custom programed to fade in and scroll of to the left making it hard to get a good pic of cus the went by kind of fast.
here a pic of the whole unit in good light.( i took the pic just as the text was cycling)

Custom Clear Acrylic PC w/2041 Blue LCD

Post by trioptek »

Unit: LCD2041-WB-V
Software: LCDC
Case: Clear Acrylic PC
Difficulty: Easy
Other: I always loved the look of a clear PC, so I decided to do one. I used the LCD2041 to display weather, Winamp, memory usage and network traffic, processor speed, and system uptime. Also, notice the yellow ground wire running to all of the components. Something not too many people realize is that an acrylic PC case offers no grounding, and can be very dangerous if the components are not grounded like they are when installed in a metal case that has been grounded to the power supply. Just a little side note. :) Also, the DVD-ROM has been custom painted, and the top cut out so you can see the disc spin - although it needs an LED to light the spinning disc.

Not a sales pitch by any means, but if you like this case, you might take a look at it on ebay - the fun for me is building them and then I like to move on.

Hope you like. Send comments to trioptek@speakeasy.net

Unit: BLK202A-R (but with special edition keypad in red as well)
Software: LCDC (like I'm gonna use anything else!)
Case: Juno p6 full tower
Difficulty: Easish as long as your are carefull with your measuring (and a pillar drill makes it easier still)
Other: I added LEDs to the bottom using the GPOs carefully drilling so as to not damage the track. I want to add 2 more to the top (if space allows) but want to order 4 blue 3mm leds for it :) They are used as temp and e-mail at the moment.
