Display Failure

Hi,

I'm upgrading my watercooling setup and need to run fans from my LK204-24-USB. So today i soldered jumper1 and removed jumper2 as per the instrictions, but after plugging it all back together, with an unmodified floppy cable, the display doesn't work. There is no backlight on startup, and windows doesn't see the screen. The fans do start up on boot as they now should though. My screen was repaired by yourselves a while ago, i'm wondering if part of it is still damaged that wasnt used with the previous jumper settings?

When you plugged the unit back in ,did you check in device manager if the drivers are working properly?

I belive I did, I had a good hunt around for clues, but will look again in a few hours when I get home. The displays backlight and startup logo do not appear on bootup though.

Have just checked under USB controllers, and nothing is listed for the screen, and nothing is recognised when i unplug and plug in the USB cable..

Can you try the display with the jumpers modified at it's original form? Try removing the registry entries. The ocation of the registry entries can be found at http://www.lcdforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1016 . Restart your PC then plug in your display.

Also, does the small jumper itself need to be used or can you simply bridge the gap with solder?

Have reset the jumpers back as requested, and the display is working fine again, recognised by the system etc.

Tom, I have only reset the jumpers as you asked me to for testing. I still need the display to run from floppy cable to power the fans I require.

You can still run the fans with the unmodified floppy with the jumper settings unmodified. You must make sure the is a jumper under the fan headers is on the two furthest left pins. I apologize for any inconvenience this caused you, but the manual is in the process of being updated.

Thats how I'm currently running it, however, I want to add 6 120mm fans over 2 Fan headers, and they simply must start with the system as they will be cooling the radiator. Otherwise, should my pc get reset or a powercut interupts things, unless I log in and start LCDC there will be no cooling, and i'll get back from work to find a dead pc.

Actually the default settings should have the fans on at 100% once the PC starts up. If they don't start up for you instantly, you can also edit the defaults to have the GPOs turn on at power up. The software called boot edit, located on the ecd that came with your display, can allow you to change your default bootup settings. That way you don't need to turn on LCDC to get your fans working. They should be default on already, but it's always a good idea to double check.

No, they currently remain off at bootup, and I have to start LCDC for the fans to start. I will try boot edit software in a few hours when I get home. I am also a little concerned about power requirements with this setup, I don't really want to be stressing the motherboard for power, which parts will still be powered via USB with this setup?

The USB cable powers up the unit's regular functions, but not the high power GPOs used to control your fans. The power coming from the power supply via unmodified floppy power cable is what powers up the high power GPOs. You must comply with the limits with the high power GPOs for safe operation for your power supply which are 1000mA, 12V per GPO.

Have looked on the CD, can't seem to find the boot edit program. I only have r1.0 hardware. Do you know the filename to search for or can you please email to me, same address as the drivers.
