Display Failure
I've done the upgrades this weekend, and have hit a problem. After tweaking with the boot edit progam the fans all start as they should the moment the system powers on, but as soon as XP loads, and gets to the user logon screen, the fans power off! It's the same time the display actually lights up for the first time, which must be when the system checks for connected usb devices?
I must get the fans to come on at system start and stay on untill LCDC loads and takes over.

Thanks for you help Tom, heres where I'm at:
Power On: Fans start up, but not tp 100%, I think the setting I used with boot edit is still there (about 50% as I remember) - Screen doesn't light up
Welcome Screen: Fans now spin up to 100% instead of power off, and the screen lights up! Perfect! The setting set with uProject is now taking over at this point?
After Logon: LCDC boots, and takes over as it should. (However I'm still experiencing the intermittant buzz noise when setting the fans to lower rpms. I belive this is the freq setting in LCDC which I reading other threads about.)
The only niggle is that when the screen lights up at the welcome screen, its mostly gobbledygook, half displaying the last displayed screen before powering down, and half random characters. Which program should I use to set a boot screen, and any way of setting it to light up and display the boot screen at power on rather than the welcome screen?

Update:
Having just got your email about how to fix the buzzing noise, I used boot edit, setting the rpm speed and freq to 76.3Hz, the required boot screen and wrote to display. I tried a couple of times, the second time I "wrote to screen" several times to make sure, (and re-connected to find my boot screen as expected.) However, on Powerup, the fans start up ok without the buzzing noise (as before), still no display. Also I'm back to having the fans shut down when reaching the welcome screen, and this is where the display lights up, with the same old messed up boot screen. (I'll be re-doing the uProject steps to keep the fans on at welcome screen.) The buzzing noise only seems to be when LCDC sets the fans to a lower rpm, I can't hear it on poweron, even at less than 100% rpm settings. I've had a look at some of the threads on this, but not getting very far...

Thanks Tom,
Still have the noise, but clearly getting closer! On Poweron the fans are definatly not at 100%, and no noise, so I think the initial PWM setting is right. Also at the welcome screen, powers up to 100% when the display lights up, and still no noise. Its the moment LCDC takes over I hear it. I can even hear it now at 100% once LCDC has been started (then its a constant buzz). To test further, I set a hotkey to -/+5% rpms and when set very low, the fans pulse start and stop every 4-5 seconds! strange! Also as I gradually increase by 5% I can hear the buzz change pitch very slightly higher with each increment.

Your welcome Greg,
The scripts I sent you was for sending a few commands in uproject. If you click on the uploader tab->other->raw data, you can set up raw commands to send to the display.
I set up the commands in section 5.25 and 5.26 of the manual for you. You can tried to increase the frequency to help take away the noise. For more information you can refer to http://www.lcdforums.com/forums/viewtop ... +frequency .
The numbers below were the commands sent. When you adjust the last number, you adjust the frequency.
/254//196//8/
/254//197//8/
Try this, and see if it works out for you.
Best Regards,

Best Regards,

I think I have the earliest revision of this display, and probably earliest firmware too, do I perhaps need the updated firmware mentioned in your linked post? Seems strange to me the noise is only there with lcdc, with the settings you sent in the file? I'll have a play with different freq's tomorrow, see what happens.
Ok, still playing around with the freq settings, no luck yet. I've changed the startup value for RPM from 255 to 135 to make it easier to hear the buzz, and its stopped the fans from starting up at powerOn.
What is the raw string to enter in uProject to set the fans going at powerOn?
I am currently running:
/254//195//1//125/
/254//195//2//125/
/254//196//9/
/254//197//9/
Set_StartupScreen - Has fixed the startup screen nicely, though still doesn't light up at PowerOn, only at welcome screen

Not with uProject, it seems to alter the settings for when the display turns on, not at powerup. The only app so far to alter settings at poweron was bootedit. However, when using bootedit, it makes the fans switch off again when the display lights up at the welcome screen.
Still no luck with the buzzing, whatever setting I use, even ones where I dont here the buzz thoughout the boot process still seem to buzz once LCDC is in use. Is there anyway LCDC is adjusting settings?
