Matrix Orbital LK204-25 Rev 1.23 (Serial Model)

Post by 110220Volts »

So I bought a Matrix Orbital LK204-25 on eBay it's a revision 1.23. it's the one with the yellow backlight. I modified a floppy adapter so I could plug it in (It the 5V model) I plug it in to power and I get a blinking cursor like I'm supposed to but as soon as I plug in the serial cable it goes away. I thought I was supposed to have a blinking cursor even if the serial cable is pluged in? I'm using LCD Snartie and when I start smartie I get nothing but when I exit it the backlight goes off. Is my screen defective? I have an Asus A8N-E Motherboard and I only have one serial cable and also only one com port right now. Can any one give me advice on how to get this LCD Working? Thanks

Hello 110220Volts,

Thanks for your post.

Is it possible for you to post a picture of the back of the board? I want to see some jumper settings. Also, I am going to assume that this problem is totally reproducable?

I believe the baud rate is set at 19200 with the jumpers and yes everytime I launch smartie the Backlight comes on and upon closing it goes off

The contrast was in the middle I thought it had to be there. So I was messing around with it and I turned it up and I saw characters on the LCD. I also did not have the startup parameters correct in LCD Smartie I had COM1,19200 they wanted COM1, 19200 I forgot a space
