Hi, I purchased an LCD Display model LK204-25PC and Have had mixed success with using it.

When using any application that uses the display, it seems to work fine,, such as MPXPLAY for dos, or LCDSEE for windows. But when I try to write my own software using QBASIC, or even something such as simple as a batch file. I get errors, the most common is "Write fault error writing device COM1" when I attempt to do something like "type file.txt > com1" The computer I am using with this screen is a Toshiba Satellite Pro 420CDT (an old pentium 100 laptop).

I have tried playing around with the "Mode" settings in dos, and it does not seem to help. I have also tried changing the BIOS to use COM1 through COM4 and get the same problem everytime. Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks..

I suppose that the problem could be hardware related....
Rule it out by trying those same batch files on a newer computer.

Go to Tosh's website and see if they have updated drivers...

Good Idea,, I suppose I will try it, only difficulty is that the screen is currently mounted in my dashboard, but I suppose it is not too hard to pull,,,

This may be a dumb question, but what is Tosh's Website?? Thanks

Click support - computer systems - tech support center - pick your machine...
Didn't see anything specifically for the serial ports, but you might try looking at the bios updates. Be careful of those, though... Read the directions or you could be up a creek without a paddle.

I know about mounting displays in your dash. You get it perfect and then end up ripping it out a few months later to fix a bug. Wouldn't it be nice if MO had a 2 for 1 offer????? (hint hint...)
