Is there a way to change the brightness of the LCD backlit in software...?
I don't think so...
and it is possible to change it in hardware with a potentiometer or a fixed value resistor?
if so, where?

Hello...
On this particular unit you cannot change the brightness of the backlight via the software. However you can remove the 2x10 ohm resisotrs on the backlight cct and replace it with a potentiometer. You must be very careful when selecting your potentiometer. You need a pot that will have the following specs; 1/2 watt 50 ohm. I know this may not be easy but in the long run you'll be much happier. It's needed to dissipate heat. If you are happy with a fixed resistor, just try taking 1-10 ohm resistor off.

Can you post me a detail picture of the 2x10ohm...
My LCD is already mounted in a difficult place and want to see
if it is not to hard to do the mod....
Edit: as you post said, the resistor is on the lcd PCB, is it right?

Now I see but I'm not very good at SMD soldering...

...
I will check for the required pot and if the job can be done for cheap...
Thanks for you reply....
