I had a bad old fan connected to the third fan plug down the back of the board. The last one above the aux power plug. It shorted out and now the display will not start up at all. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I have tried changing usb ports but there is nothing wrong with the rest of my computer. I am a good solderer so I can connect two points togather to bypass something if I need too.

The MX222 you currently have, just above the white power connector and to the right, does it have a 0 ohm resistor insalled across a jumper point???

Well I see a black jumper there, yes. there are three prongs and it's connected to the two on the left. By 0 ohm you mean just a regular jumper with no resistance?

wow this sucks I think it's totaly shot.

Does any one know? Should I buy a new display? Maybe I shouldn't have glued mine in place with epoxy... doh.

To be perfectly honest, in a situation like this it is best to send it back to me to look at. The down side is, if the unit is unrepairable you just paid for shipping when the money could of been used towards a new display!! Totally up to you!!

Well, Is there a jumper than i can use to disable the fan stuff? And just have the display run off usb only with out going through the stuff I might have damaged?

Ok, my model is an LK202-24-USB Rev 1.4. Sorry I didn't post this before. I have a multi meter, any suggestions on what I should check? Here are some things I noticed.

The jumper area labled HP right under the three fan power jacks and above the white 5v power jack... What does this jumper control? Also if I can discribe this, directly to the right of the brown colored fan jacks there is a surface mount device labeld 10-20 and written under that is R4 and a circle with a 2 in it. Now, I said the power conections where shorted out on the fan jack that is the third one down right above the jumper. To the right of that is one of the SMD's with the lettering I described above. Directly above that there is a very small SMD with 335 4 written on it. This looks as though it has cracked. I have a picture of the part I mean here.


It is not as smooth as the two above it. Is this a transistor? It has two leads going out the right side of it and one coming in the left side. If I manage to replace this do you think it will work? Is there any way to by pass this section making the fan option non working but making everything else work?

I'm sorry if this is confusing but I desperatly need to get this working. I have incorperated this into a computer mod that I am entering into various contests. Thanks for any help you can give me

OK I now understand what you mean by jumper 1. NO there is nothing installed over jumper 1. It just has two pads not touching, and there is no SMD soldered between them. Jumper 2 is bridged with a blob of solder. I was looking at the high power HP jumper before. doh I had the 12v/5v floppy drive power pluged in because I thought it was needed to run fans off the board. It was plugged in when the fan power shorted. I understand that USB is 5v and the floppy drive power cable is 12v/5v alowing greater power draw for GPO's. Excuse my ignorance this is my first time dealing with this device!

I beleive I shorted out the RPM sensor pin and the 5/12v pin on the third advanced GPO (aka fan plug). the HP jumper was set for 12v not 5v with the floppy cable power pluged in.

What happens when you aattach the USB cable only...? Anything...?

No. The screen does not light up.
