Does this display have the ability to change the PWM frequency on the GPOs or is this what the firmware update does? Having trouble finding this info.

Thanks
Dan

Hello...

Yes the display has the ability to change the PWM frequency. Have you tried the bootedit utility on the eCD? The new feature is a command to set PWM base frequency and startup PWM base frequency. This is a nice feature for people that want to use the advanced GPOs for lighting such as cold cathodes and LEDs. All the advanced GPOs can have their PWM frequency adjusted from 0.3Hz to almost 10KHz.

Hi Miles, thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure I don't have Bootedit on the eCD I got with my unit. I have a boot logo editor prog, but no bootedit. Is it availiable for download anywhere? I've heard it's not too good at making the unit keep the settings after power-off, isn't there a way to do this from LCDC? Thanks a lot for any help.

Miles, already had read that post. Unfortunately I cannot get the LCDC method to work. I am sending the display [##254,197,8] (say), and the flickering is not changing at all. Isn't the PWM freq set on a GPO specific basis like I saw in a screenshot of BootEdit?

So....

Lets make sure that you have the correct firmware, when you use LCDC to send the text

[##254, 54]

What does the display return?

It returns input from the keypad.

Sending "[##254, 54]" [Sent]
Keypad input-> Dec:32 Hex:20 Chr:
Keypad input-> Dec:76 Hex:4C Chr:L
Keypad input-> Dec:70 Hex:46 Chr:F

etc

There's the problem. According to this you have firmware revision 2.0. Revision 2.1 is when I introducted the ability to change PWM frequency.

One option is that we can upgrade that for you at no cost. Just cover the shipping and we can upgrade that to 2.1 for you.

Sorry for the initial confusion.

Hey thanks for clearing that up for me. This is probably why I don't have BootEdit I guess. Do you guys do a 4 Line LCD like the Lk-202-24 USB that I could replace mine with rather than upgrading? I can easily use this display in another system anyway. If not, then it's heading your way for an upgrade. Thanks again.
