LK204-24-USB not detected in XP

I recently installed an LK204-24-USB in my new build pc but Windows XP is not detecting it. Initially, I used an internal USB cable (correct pin layout for Asus A8V motherboard) but this did not power up so I used a floppy power input to start the display. This now only shows the default Matrix Orbital logo however it is still not detected by XP. I have changed the USB cable (and used the external connector on the unit) but still no joy. Under "Device Manager" and "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" the display is not listed. Any help much appreciated.

Have you installed the drivers properly? If not uninstall and reinstall the drivers that came in your ECD. You should also uninstall it from the registry. Go to http://www.lcdforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1016 for instructions on how to remove drivers from the registry.

Tom.

Thanks for the reply. To install the drivers I presume that the hardware has to be detected (my display has never been detected as new hardware). How do I proceed?

Chris,

The link http://www.lcdforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1032 is a guide on how to install your USB drivers. If there is no detection of your display, then go into you device manager, right click "Universal Serial Bus Controllers", and select scan for hardware changes. Follow the steps in the guide afterwards.

:(
Tom,

The USB driver guide would indeed be useful if the hardware was detected in the first place. There are no registry entries because the pc needs to detect something before it can install the drivers. The USB Controller scan for hardware fails when tried and I still have the same problem. I have tried to install on 3 different pcs (with 2 different USB cables and USB/alternate USB sockets on the back of the display) and none of these can see the unit via USB ie. it does not recognise the hardware! What I have is an expensive illuminated Matrix Orbital logo. Is my unit faulty?

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,

Can you apply an unmodified floppy power cable first, followed by your communication cable. Once you have done this, check in your device manager for a Matrix Orbital listed device. If this does not work, please email Tom at support@matrixorbital.ca (Subject: Attention Tom, In regards to forum post involving the LK204-24-USB). We will get this situation resolved!! :D

Miles,

Sadly the application of a floppy followed by USB cable did not show the display in the device manager so I'll email Tom. So far the technical support for this problem has been great, thanks! :)
