mx422 and fan problems

Just bought an mx422 and I'm having problems with the fans.
I've got the jumper set to the far left as it shoudl be, the floppy pwer cable is plugged in (definately works as when used to power the A: drive it works fine) and have 4 fans plugged into the sockets.
The fans also definately work fine as when plugged straight to the mobo there is no problem.
The unit powers up and the screen works fine. I havent configured anything yet as I want to get the fans working first and then tidy up all the wires in the case a bit more.
I'm sure it is just something really simple that I have overlooked. Any help greatly appreciated

Try checking if your drivers are working properly on device manager. Since you plugged in the unmodified floppy power cable, the unit will power up, but it might not be functioning if the drivers are not working.

Drivers seemed fine but I re-installed them anyway.
For some reason thedisplay now thinks it's an mx2 series and only has 2 lines of text
Not too bothered about that as I really want to get the fans working first
Is there maybe some noob setting I have missed in the software that I need to do?

I'm using the LCDC which came on the CD with the unit

On LCDC you must go into the configuration/test and change the definition file to "LK204-24-USB or MX4xx". You will get four lines afterwards. Try testing the GPOs out on uproject. Uproject should be in the ecd that came with your display. On the main tab in uproject, you can check on and off the GPOs. You can test whether the GPOs are working or not. Also, check if your unmodified floppy cable is indeed working, because you may have a loose connection.

Well I seem to have started to get to the bottom of it.
I plugged one of the fans straight into the unit and it was fine
I presume that I am having problems due to the way I have wired up my fans.
I have paired them up using 3 pin to molex converters. IE each fan (where needed has a 3 pin to molex convertor on it, this in turn is plugged into another molex (which is itself of course a 3pin to molex convertor) and then I run a 3 pin to 3 pin extension from the the LCD unit to the molex convertor.
Now this configuration used to work fine on my old rheostat controllor but doesnt seem to here. I guess that the best way for me to do this is to get some 3 pin Y splitters and plug that into a 3 pin to 3 pin extension and into the LCD unit right?
