Hi again!
I'm having more trouble with my display. From time to time the display stops showing text. Gpos, buttons, contrast, backlight and displaying bitmaps still works great.
I have no idea on how to get the display up and running again. Usually i do a complete clean up of the displays memory and then reboot the computer. Sometimes that works sometimes it don't. I have actually no clue on how i have gotten the display to work again on the previous occations. It just suddenly starts to work. This has happened to me four times in about two months.
Does anyone have any idea on what could cause this?

Hi Peter,

Did you develope your own application or are you using software? When the text stops displaying, does all communication lock up?

I am currently using lcdsmartie (http://lcdsmartie.sourceforge.net). But i can't display text with the software that came with the display either. That is, i have tried Uproject and mogd without success.

When the display stopped showing text it seemed like it lost communication with the lcd software becasue the text on the screen completley froze. After i rebooted the computer the text was gone. So to answer your question, yes all communication locked up.

Any clues?

Hi Peter,

The has a 96byte buffer, and if you send too much data at a quick rate, the buffer will overflow.

You may have overflowed the buffer. When you rwrite commands or text, it is a good idea to put delays in between each character or every couple of characters.

Have you tried wiping out the "module memory system", and reloading the fonts on mogd? The fonts may have disappeared, if you aren't getting any text.

Best Regards,

Thanks for helping out it is truly invaluable!
I have just wiped the module memory system with mogd and that completley messed up the display. I still have some functionality, i can turn off the backlight but can't turn it on again. If i try to activate a gpo with uproject it takes me at least 5 tries before anything happens. When i try to upoad fonts or graphics the software says that it is unable to connect to the display. And when drawing bitmaps with mogd about 50% of the pixels are missing.

Should i considder this display dead?

Peter,

Make sure you do not have any other programs using the com port or you won't be able to upload a font, and try to upload the font on mogd again.

The upload screen should come without any message saing "unable to connect to the display". When that message comes up, that usually means another program is occupying the port.

If you don't have anymore luck, give me an email at tlam@matrixorbital.ca, and I will give you some options.

Best Regards,
