MX213 Keypad Problem :/

Post by petmitt2 »

Set my lovely new mx213 up in my case and installed LCDC, no problems - great product. But, annoyingly it appears my right keypad button is broke. All the other buttons worked when assigning events to them, but not the right arrow. This is really unfortunate since i wished to use it as winamp skip track (for use when in games, etc.).

Any ideas what could be wrong? I'm no good at soldering or anything like that, but could it be something simple? I live in the UK and there aren't many places that sell Matrix Orbitals. The place where I bought my unit from last week is now out of stock in the mx213 model.

I haven't had a look at the back of the Orb yet, it's still in my case. Is there a keypad plug or something that could have slipped out? What should I look out for?

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi petmitt2,

Thank you for posting at the forum.

If you look at the back of the unit, you can see the keypad is connected to a set of pins. If you have the keypad centered, the right key won't work. Make sure the keypad covers. The keypad connector will consist of rows and columns. Row one and column 1 will be labled on the board. Make sure c4,c5,c6,61,r2, and r3 is covered. The keypad will be off center to the right one pin over when you are facing the back of the unit.

If you have anymore problems, let me know.

Best Regards,

How come it was connected central tho? is there a reason for that?

Great to see you got everything working.

Unfortunately this is a rare case that the wrong pin was missed. Fortunately this was minor, and it doesn't happen often.

If you have anymore questions, please feel free to post it.
