problem uploading to GLK12232-25-WBL

I recently purchased a GLK12232-25-WBL, which I sucessfully attached to my PC via serial cable. Using mogd, I was at first able to display text with no problems without changing any settings (COM 6, 19200 baud.) I also managed to download a few fonts with no difficulties. I was not, however, able to upload bitmaps to the module. Attempts consistently timed out after a minute or so with an error message that said "The module did not respond, do you want to abort the download?"
After reading several posts on these forums from people who seemed to be experiencing similar problems, I wiped the module file system. I am now unable to upload fonts as well as bitmaps, and can no longer display text due to the lack of fonts. Turning the backlight on and off does work, and the "Draw Image (calculated)" button will cause it to display the top of the image. I am also still able to clear the screen, so it seems that some communication is occurring. How can I get the module to accept files?
