G'Day,

First, let me say I have been impressed with your display and I want to use it on a new lab product we are going to ship all over the world.

As such we need to ensure manufacturability and CE approvals. so...

a) Can you give me any assurances regarding the product life of the GLK12232-25-WBL? Will it still be around in 5 years?

and

b) Do you have any CE/UL safety and/or emmissions and/or ESD testing results for these displays? I'm particularly interested in how much these displays emit and how they handle ESD.

Thanks for your help

Hello Matt,

I'm glad you are enjoying the display. We do not have any plands of discontinuing the GLK12232-25-WBL anytime soon. The only changes planned is a hardware and firmware upgrade to the display in the next 8-10 weeks.

The display has not been tested for CE or UL.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact us.

Thanks Henry,

What sort of hardware and firmware changes are taking place? I'm just starting the design of our product so if there are any enhancements or bug fixes I should try to incorporate them.

Cheers,

Matt

The core functions of the display should be the same... the theory is the new revision will be a drop in replacement, so your code should not have to change.

Some of the updates:

Better RS232/TTL selection
Speed increase, up to 8x faster
2 more pins on the keypad header for grounding
New commands added to the display, such as downloading the fonts from the display.
New backlight for a brighter display

So we are mostly adding features to the display, and will not be taking any away.

Thanks again Henry,

That sounds OK. As long as there aren't any mechanical or layout changes (other than the connection headers) I should be fine.

Thanks again.

Matt
