knoppix (linux), lcdproc-0.5.0, and glk displays

For some reason I can't seem to get the display to respond. It works fine on windows, but not on linux. The com port works fine at the same baud as the windows port was set with other devices, but can't seem to connect to the GLK.

Is there some setting I need to change? If anybody knows any linux configuration particulars that could help, much appreciated.

FYI - the lcdproc-0.5.0 has some nice features added compared to the previous release. It was released recently.

If the display is showing 'garbled' text it is usually the baud rate that is the problem.

Will the display show anything that is sent to it in linux?

Yea, it was a couple of problems. Cable problems - with the rx/tx reversed, worked on one display and not the other. Made me think that they were both broken, but they just had different connector ordering - I'm using the glk-sm and glk-wbl for evaluation purposes.

The other problem was that I had accidently cleared the font map. So I could control it, and it seemed that out-of-the-box it couldn't display text. Seemed like another symptom of a larger problem at the time.
