Hello,
I tried to do a search and have not been unsuccessful in finding an answer. I recently picked up a new bare HTPC case (AVS Digital Theater). The display that came with the case is a VK204-25 (Rev 1.23 from PCB). I have a MSI k7t266 pro2 board that has two serial ports. I connected the female serial connector on the back of the LCD/VF screen to the male serial connector built onto the motherboard. Downloaded LCDC and tried auto-detect. It returned each time with no screen detected. Is there anything else I can try or a way to check serial connector funcionality? Or is there a male serial to usb cable to try a different port? Last thought is how involved would it be to replace the screen?

My first question would be: did you check to see if the serial port is enabled? A lot of motherboards come out of the box with any serial or parallel ports disabled.

Thanx for the thought. I did check. One thing I didn't realize until I accidentally came across. The serial cable is from a Tripp-Lite UPS that I have for power back up. It appears that the serial cable is of the crossover design. I'm out to buy a straight serial patch cable.

[b]That's what it turned out to be!!!! Never knew serial cable was also available in two flavors. Got the straight patch cable and LCDC detected with no problems. Now just have to set it up so it can display the weather and news on the screen. Where to go for the set up. Help screen was not helpful ;-([/b]
