Hello,

I'm using an old LK204-25 (green version, bought several years ago) into a weather station projet (university project).

The LCD part is scratched (oups :))

So, I bought a new LK204-25-WB (the blue/white version)... But I made a mistake and connected it to +12vdc..
I guess the PIC chip is burned.

But the LCD part seems ok (backlight still working)

My question is :
Can I use the LCD part of the LK204-25-WB on my old LK204-25 ?
(I mean, replace the LCD part of my LK204-25 with the LCD part of LK204-25-WB)

Many thanks

marc

Hello Marc,

Thank you for contacting Matrix Orbital technical support.

Its unfortunate to hear that you made a mistake of powering the LK204-25-WB with +12V. Although the display seems to still work after the +12V supply, I would not advice that you continue using it.

If you please look at the Absolute Max Ratings for the display (Section 3 of the manual: http://www.matrixorbital.ca/manuals/mop ... 204B-E.pdf)

But to answer your question:
Can I use the LCD part of the LK204-25-WB on my old LK204-25 ?
(I mean, replace the LCD part of my LK204-25 with the LCD part of
LK204-25-WB)
Yes, the LCD part of the LK204-25 is compatible with the LCD part of the LK204-25-WB. Although, there are considerations you need to take for backlight current and contrast settings. Again, since the mishap you have had with the LK204-25-WB, I do not recommend that you continue to use the LCD.

If you want, you can send the module back for repair. We should be able to give you an estimate of the repair cost if you want one.

Best Regards,
