What software packages are compatible with the GX Typhoon?

At the moment of writing only LCD Studio, with the next update we will open up the interface and allow development 3rd party applications. This update is scheduled to go in beta later this week / early next week with the public release a couple of weeks later.

That is not entirely true...

I use the GX Typhoon with MediaPortal.... using the CybrDisplay plugin (it supports the MX series and GX series displays).

If you're lucky and used the same version as we did, you could try copying the dll from the DriverCore folder.

I tried that. When I click "Test", I am getting "Failed to locate assembly 'log4net, version 1.2.10.0...." error message. My log4net.dll is 1.2.9.0. When I replace the dll with 1.2.10.0, I am getting "Failed to locate assembly 'log4net, version 1.2.9.0...." I guess I need both dlls for different applications, but I don't know how to register them. I tried to use regsvr32, but it didnt' work for me.

There is an interesting conversation going on here:

http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/suppo ... dex29.html

Ray: can you help MediaPortal community so we could use GX with MediaPortal? Obviously, we need the driver compiled against the "standard" log4net.dll in order to resolve the problem. Is it very difficult to do?

JorisFRST emailed me about it this morning. Best i can do on short notice is supply a patch with just a recompile of the files you guys need. recompiles are easy.

Try this zipfile.

it comes with a warning though :

Whatever you do DO NOT COPY THESE FILES TO THE DRIVERCORE FOLDER! doing that will make it really really unhappy.

Just toss 'm in the folder wherever media portal keeps its plugins (where the ones you have now are causing problems) and you should be fine.

I'll test this right away.

Thanks for the quick reply.

OK,

the display works perfectly from the plugin.

The team mediaportal devs are going to update their software so it should work out of the box from the next release.

Warning for people using tvserver : Display will not work in version 1.0.1, release 1.0.2 will also include a fix to tvserver to also update this to use framework 2.0 log4net.dll

Thank you very much for this quick fix !!

I bought the GX especially to use with my HTPC :-)

Confirming Mediaportal works with the GX now in version 1.0.2 with TV Server or client installed.

I hope to have some time over the weekend to upload my settings / config.
