Hi Again
After finding the vk204-25 I got didn't work I now find that the graphic display I've got doesn't either :-(
Using mogd...
Backlight turns on/off etc can send text. No problems there.
clicked on Draw image (directwrite) on the image/graphs tab. Hmm! assuming that the image on screen is accurate then I'm getting consistant corruption on the image (its too big but it would be wouldn't it)
tried downloading a font (small fonts t position 2). Nothing. Either never comes back, or eventually says it "The module did not respond, do you want to abort the download.", then tells me to power it off and on. If I dont power off/on I cant write anything else to the display. SOmetimes takes several power cycles though before the startup message appears again!

I didn't reply as I wasn't sure what to say...
Sounds dodgy, though in generally mogd can be a little buggy. I've often seen the graphical demo drawing thing you mention not draw correctly on a working module... it is only a test though and nothing important.
As for sending fonts... does it never work ever? I've seen it fail to upload fonts a few times (maybe 5% of the time?) but I've never seen the error messgase you quote I don't think...

I've tried font uploading numerous time (10+) fails every time. Never contacts the module.
I guess it expects some response back or something. I've found that I cant get any data from the module to the PC (keypresses etc). The codes get sent, but the PC simply ignores them.
It's not the port as a modem worked fine. I've also tried three differant machines with the same negative result.

Have you done a manual override and then try to talk to the display? like turn the backlight on and off? that's the most important thing here, to get some kind of communication happening...

Yep! Backlight on/off, contrast etc work fine.
Text display mostly works. However pressing the 'send text button' repeatedly very quickly can miss some characters occaisonally.
Also tends to split text between the 3rd and 4th lines when using LCDC (tweaked to do 17x4 as I cant download a font). Sort of like it misses the positioning codes sometimes.
I tried running it at a slower serial speed. Text corruption improved a little, no change with font or graphic downloading though.

You have to set on the board serial speed using a separate program... to me it sounds like you've confused the on board memory by running at a lower baud than the unit was set to.
Look in the manual do the hardware reset to reset the comm speed. Now try mogd, can you upload fonts at 19200 baud?
If so we'll deal with the lcdc problem - tis a simple one.
Cheers,

yes modg. did that then used mogd to do the test.

possibly but I then reset it (repeatedly)

done a reset. cant upload fonts. ties out and says it cant contact the module.

maybe...
I've tried al the tabs in mogd again...
1. main tab works fine.
2. image/graphics tab sort of works. Graphics section works. Draw image (calculated) sends the top two thirds or so of the image with the left diagonal line (pity web cam dont work atm). Draw image (directwrite) gives "<space>i" every time I press the button.
3. Drawing too only does left half of LCD and starts wrapping /overlapping in the bottom line area.
4. Download image times as as font downloda does, though I can get it to display image 1. Seems to download something as I then have to reset the dipslay to get text showing again.
5. Fonts times out as already stated.
Obviously some of the problem as because mogd ignores its display size setting. Could this be why image downloads fail?

Was checking this thread since ill soon be the happy owner of that same LCD
Your problem reminded me of the problem i had w/ a display of another brand, it was discussed on bit-tech's forums
on that page
I don't know if the MO displays can even have that problem, and the solution will most likely be different, but this might help you finding a solution
