20x4 VFD and LCD

The acctual screens, and surrounding, not the pcb, are they the same side, like if I were to put a 20x4 vfd in place of my burnt 20x4 nk204?

Aparently this can be done if you use and LCD replacement VFD (noritake do them).

Go to http://www.bittech.net and ask Cheeseman for details - I'm pretty sure he's done it.

Actualy, just ask Cheese here - I'm sure it's him (or his evil twin).

Our 4x20 displays are the same size physicaly with the same mounting holes. The only difference is that VFDs have a little niple on the top and LCDs do not... so the depth changes just a little bit, not much.
