Sheilded Serial Cables

I took a quick trip over to radioshack to pick up a nice long (6ft) serial cable (for an external enclosure) and when it got rung up they wanted to charge me $15 dollars for it. I immendiently left the store. Does anyone know where (either internet or a local store in the us) to buy sheilded serial cables? None of my friends have any serial cables, they are becoming kinda useless seeing as how no one needs them any more.

The other question i have is does any one know where to purchase some realiable decent momentary swiches? The ones i bought at radioshack are pieces of you know what and to think i paid $1 for 2 of 'em. Its hard to find decent eletronical componets these days...
Thanks

I'm pretty fond of allelectronics.com. Here's their switch department.

Keep in mind you just need 2 conductors for serial, three if you want to send power via the serial port. Also I've heard of a lot of people using unshielded twisted pair (network cable). I know you asked for shielded, but for six feet I wouldn't worry about it, especially since Ethernet cables and jacks are so cheap.

If you insist on shielded, look for mic cable in the audio section of some local music store, most of them will have a spool and cut you a length.

I just brought a flexible grey 7 conductor shielded conductor for my MO display... Only 0.21$CDN/ft...

You just have to find any shielded 5+ conductor wire...+ 2 DB9 serial plugs...
One male and one female....
much cheaper than pre-build ones....

You have to find a decent electronic store (industrial one are cheaper)...

I'm currently building a external case with a projec box with 20ft cable...

3 wires for data
2x2 wires for power....

kinda work great....

I will have pics soon
