I'm playing with 80 watt pelts, and yeah they can kill a car battery in under a hour. :D One pelt hooked to a car battery needs a 10 amp charger to stay on step. Also I'm not putting in the max volts, they're rated at 15v, I'm only supplying 12v. I picked up a couple 50mm pelts at Jameco to test ...

Have you installed any new hardware on your computer? In windows control panel / system /devices are there any "!" warnings? Have you tried reinstalling USB drivers? Boot up in safe mode and look at USB devices in the control panel / system settings. You might be surprised at what you see. I had ...

braineater, thanks for the interest in my work. I'm happy to share info on what I've learned playing with peltiers. I built a test bed using old processor heat sinks that I had laying around and tied it to a matrix LK-204-24 using temp sensors and a keypad which allows increase / decrease of ...

Not unless you choose this communication method. The display is capable of TTL, or transistor to transistor logic which is 5 volts. You can ...

Here is a site that may help with questions and considerations to peltiers...
http://www.tellurex.com/12most.html
Anyways peltiers have a considerably shorter life span when switching them on and off due to thermal expansion and contraction. PWM gets you past this problem. I'm currently ...

:o Well thought out and very impressive!

PS, a note about controlling peltiers... You want to use pwm for controling and not switching them off and on. :nono:

Im going to post again on this thread for anyone else that may search this forum for a problem similar to mine. While feeding discs back to the computer the problem reoccured. This time I knew at least where to look for the offending driver. It seems that soundblaster live audio card was loading a ...

Well it seems like formatting and installing a clean build of windows cleared up the problem. Machine boots up correctly and lcdc does it's thing. In a way I'm happy, I'm glad that this fixed it, but now I get to spend the night feeding the computer discs to get back to where it was. Anyways this ...

After a little more trouble shooting I found that I can boot up ok if I use the internal USB connectors on the motherboard (USB 3-4). If I try to use the USB 1-2 connections on the rear of the board I encounter the "Windows Protection" error. Any ideas on what's going on?

Computer startup problems

Hi, I just recieved a MX4 display. I followed the manual and tried out the display, everything works fine. After testing I mounted the unit into my case and powered up. I get a "Windows Protection Error" screen anytime I boot up with the MX4 module connected. If I disconnect the module and re-boot ...

Think of the screw holes on either side like the screw holes on a cd rom. If you mount a drive in your case using screws directly through the drive bay into the drive then it should be apparent how to do this. Since you don't see this right off then possibly you are using drive rails to mount your ...

I have the same display, and also had the same problems as you are describing. I don't use lcd tester, I use mogd, the software that came with the display. I found that I had to give the display a little time to set itself to the baud rate change. After changing the baud setting with software the ...

You might need to reset the display baud rate by using the manual overide. Review the display manual to see how this is done.

Thanks Miles, I don't mind a little confusion. I would like to learn to direct write bitmap to screen. The display manual outlines how to send a bitmap in direct mode, but I'm not certain on how to go about saving a bitmap as a hex file. As a hex file I could program the eeprom and address the saved ...
