MX422 Driver Problems.

Post by haplo888 »

Just got my MX422, got it installed OK, booted into Windows XP and it detected it as MX4/5. It prompted to install drivers and I followed the instructions on the .doc file from the CD (d:/USB_Drivers). It installed drivers for MX2/3 for both USB and for Port. When I rebooted I got a windows protection fault and had to restore to last known good configuration to get back into windows. I tried again, same thing. I tried NOT installing any drivers and I could reboot fine.

So, I tried selecting the drivers manually for both USB and Port. For USB it could only find MX2/3. For Port it did find MX4/5 and installed them fine. However, when I rebooted I still got WPF. Next I tried installing drivers from the USB_Drivers/version 1.1. It found and installed MX2xx drivers. I can now reboot without WPF. However these are older drivers and not specifically for my MX422.

I tried looking on the website for updated drivers, but could not find any. I appreciate any help to get updated drivers running.

Thanks,
Haplo

Thanks. I appreciate your attention.

Just to provide more info: I did get MBM5 and LCDC installed and can control my fan speeds with the version 1.1 drivers. However, I get frequent lock ups of the Virtual Display and LCDC itself crashes a fair amount. I hope and assume this will all clear up when I get the correct drivers in.

We use the same drivers for all our USB devices so the fact that your using MX2xx drivers is perfectly fine. Do not worry that the unit is detected as a MX2/3... Can you try updating your drivers with version 1.2 available at the following link and let me know how you make out...

Followed the link. The 1.2 there is an the Alpha version? It lists as a .Rar file, but downloads as a .Tgz file. I tried both winzip and winAce to unpack.

Isn't .Tgz linux?

Ok so I've never seen that before. It is still defaulting the file to .tgz for me. I renamed it to .rar and winrar unpacked it fine. Took a quick browse through my registry to see if there was anything funky and nothing jumped out at me. And this is virtually a new build of XP Pro... I'll figure it out when I get back from vacation.

So I got 1.2 installed. I'll let you know if its more stable.

Thanks,
Haplo

p.s. anybody else reading this have that file DL as .tgz?

I tried it from a different system and it did what you said, very strange... I'll upload new drivrs soon, so it's a moot point.

OK, so at least I know its not just me. Question: Do either or both the boxes you tried the download on have WinZip installed? I have WinZip 8.1 SR-1.

Im still seeing the Virtual Display lock up frequently. If I then turn off and back on just the virtual display, it remains blank while the real display is continuning to function.

Additionally, I'm still getting the following error:

The program has raised contuable exception and still will continue operating
------------------------------------
Exception was:
WriteFile function failed (win error code:5)
------------------------------------
Get last error:
Access was denied

When I get this error the display stops fucntioning. If I close and restart LCDC it cannot access the COM port. Rebooting usually fixes it, although I have had to reboot twice to fix it. There is only one account on my XP Pro box and its the administrator.

Thanks again,
Haplo
