VK202-25: Lifetime and power on command ?

Post by Mathieu_R »

Two questions in the same topic:
- What is the lifetime of the VK202-25 display?
- Can I send the "Display On" command (254 66) very "often" (~100 times with 100ms between each) with no damage on the display?

The life of the display is 20000 hours per half life of a display. You can send that command 100times without damaging the display.

Yes, the lifetime is the same, however the thing you have to worry about with the VFD is burn in...

An example of burn in is when you leave your monitor on for awhile without a screensaver, and the image is burnt onto the screen. The VFD works the same way. It is healthy to clear your screen once in awhile if you have a VFD. :D

So if i leave lcdc running is there any risk of burn in as long as its changeing the screen?

By clear the screen do u mean powering down the unit? Is there a way to power it down completely without unpluging it?

Your screen will be fine if you have the screen constantly moving with LCDC. What I meant by clearing the screen is clear any text or characters off the screen, not cycling the power. :D

There is no way to turn off the power, unless you wire up a switch to the display.
