Input in to an MX402
Input in to an MX402
I have an MX402 and i all so have watercooling in my pc. The control box for the water cooling has a header for an LED and i was wondering is there a way of being able it connect this to the display, to indicate the status of the pump and the watercooling systemas a whole?

You wouldn't be able to connect your control box to your MX402 directly. The GPO's are outputs only, and temperature probe input is only for the dallas one wire. The way of indirectly connecting your control box to the display is to connect it to a microcontroller, and the controller must be connect to display. This involves a little programming and electronic knowledge.

Best Regards,
I am knowledgable in Z80 and PIC microcontrolers and could probably build such a system. But i can't use the serial port at the same time as the USB input, can I? And would the Z80 or the PIC be sutible? Could i use the dallas one wire, as there are only two conditions, On(1) or Off(0). I learning new controlers as i like electronics!
As much as I would like you to connect the display to your pump controller, I believe it is a lot more work to hook up a microcontroller. I think it would be more efficient to hook up an LED to your pump controller. However, if you do want to hook up the display to a controller, you can use any controller that communicates at TTL levels. If you communicate it with TTL levels, the USB port will be bypassed. Page 12 of the manual will give you more details on communicating at TTL levels with the display. You wouldn't be able to use the dallas one wire because it uses a different communications protocol.
