A few simple questions about my MX221

Post by Lovah »

Hello,

I have a MX221, and just installed it. (along with all new hardware).
And I have a feq small simple questions.

1. Do I need to connect a floppy power cable to the LCD module? (the PCB). Or will it run all on USB power only ?? (I want to use the high power GPO's).

2. I have this little 'led-block', it needs 12V. I want it to light up on new email. I can figure out the software for it, so thats no problem. But wich connector on the PCB do I use? (I'm guessing the high power GPO's) and where can I get a cable that will fit it?

3. Where Can I find the Manual.. I coudln't find it on the main site.

Thanks very much
Michiel

Here are the answers to your questions.

1. You can power your display with the USB power, but if you want to use your high power GPO, you must connect an unmodified floppy cable to your display.

2. If you have the LED indicator bus, you can plug it in the set of pins right next to the HP power connector. The LEDs should have come with instructions on which way to connect them. If you are using your own 'led-block' , you must use the high power GPO. You must use a current limiting resistor with your LEDs. The connector it uses is the same size as a 12V fan connector. Page 46 of the manual gives you a specific size of the GPO.

3. The manual is located at

Hi Tom,

First of all, thank you very much for your quick reply !
I don't have the LED indicator bus. I connected a floppy power cable to the LCD. I think its a 'unmodified' one.. as it was stock on my power supply.

My home made 'led block' is already 12V (a few leds soldered in serie..).

Thank you for a link to the manual. But there is no page 46 there. It stops as 45... Maybe u ment 46 wich Adobe acrobat reader gives. There is a some sort of schematic on there... Edit: Fixed, found it at page 11.

solved aswell! (removed the question)

Thank you very very much!

I am reading true the manual.

Do I need to remove a jumper to beable to use the high power GPO's (at 12V) ??

Or is that only, when u want the GPO's to be on, before the OS has been start up?

thanks
sorry for all my questions

You must have the jumpers on the furthest left 2 pins on your display. You must leave the jumper on to be able to use the high power GPO. You can still leave the jumper on if you weren't using the GPOs. You don't need to remove the jumper if it's already set on high power GPO. :D
