The "sales page" for the LCD4041 says, and I quote:
You can communicate via RS232, I2C, or TTL on this and every other Matrix Orbital display.
But the manual doesn't say anything about either using the 4 pin connector for RS232 or about converting the unit to TTL.
Can anyone tell me how to do either of those things? I care more about TTL, if it matters :-)
This is on an LCD4041 rev 1.02 dated 1998.
Thanks!

LCD4041 and TTL?
Sorry about the confusion, but the sales page still needs some minor adjustments.
For I2C communication, you do not need to make any modifications to the board. You can just connect straight to the pins on the power connector. The pinouts are shown below.
1) Power
2) SCL
3) SDA
4) Gnd
As for TTL communication, you will need major modifications to the board, so it is not recommended to communicate via TTL on the LCD4041. It will involve physical traces being cut, and wires to be run.
For more detailed information on the unit go to the manual at http://www.matrixorbital.com/files/LCD4041.pdf.
If you have anymore questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
