Hey guys, had the MX212 for about a week now, and am very happy with the unit, and the after sales service.
Just have a quick question about the pwm control on the fans in my system.
At the moment I have 3 fans being controlled by GPO1,2 and 3. The fans are
GPO1 - YS-Tech 92mm
GPO2 - YS-Tech 120mm
GPO3 - YS-Tech 120mm
Whenever I set the fan speeds on GPO2 and 3 to any Percentage under 25%, the fans seem to make a very irregular ticking or clicking noise. This did not occur when I was using a standard rheobus to control fan speeds, and am wondering if there are any ways to stop the noise.
At night I usually leave the GPO1 at 100%, but because of the noise I have to set both GPO2 and 3 to 0%, when ideally they would be runnng at 20% in order to cool my hard drive banks. At the moment I have 6 hard drives, so you can imagine that heat is an issue.
Thanks
Andrew
Query about Fans on MX212 (Noise Issue)
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for posting.
You can try increasing the frequency of the the GPO. The frequency can be changed by using boot edit. Bootedit comes in the ecd that came with your display. It will be under the "Edit GPO defaults" section. Changing the frequency to 76.3Hz should be sufficient.
Let me know if this works for you.
Best Regards,

Hi Tom, have tried using bootedit, and came to some degree of success.
Tried your recommendation of 76.3Hz, and there was now a definate whine to the fans running at anything under 40%. I then tried in order each frequency level until I found one that suited. The frequency of 4882.9Hz seems to allow the best noise/fan output that I can tell, but I have to ask if this an ok level to run the fans at (frequency). It may be that becasue of the size of the fans, this is the best frequency, but I wanted to check with the experts first.
Thanks again
Andrew
