I know these VFDs can connect to USB headers or sockets, but can the also be connected to internal com port headers?
the reason i ask is all my USB headers are taken and I dont want a lead going out the back of my pc, so the only other option I have is to buy a PCI card with an internal USB socket
can the mx6 series only be connected via usb?
Hi Juan Ker,
Thank you for posting on the forum.
The non usb units can connect via internal com port, so you will an internal serial cable connector to hook up to the internal com port.
The MX2/3/6 or LK/VK/PK202-24-USB cannot connect to the internal serial port, but just the internal or external usb cable.
If you have anymore questions or concerns, please feel free to post.

Hi Juan Ker,
The VK202-25, does offer almost the same features except it won't have advanced GPOs, but it has 6 normal GPOs instead of just the 3 on the MX6 units. There is still dallas one wire support, but the MX6 units have more headers on them. You can still add additional dallas one wire temp probes by daisy chaining them.
For detailed information for comparison you can refer links to the manuals shown below.

GPOs is an acronym for general purpose output. In the case of the MX displays, they have advanced gpos with pwm(pulse width modulation) to control the speed of fans and motors which require more power. I do mean the external powered gpos for advanced gpos. There are also regular ones that are used for low powered devices, such as leds, and they don't require the external power.
I hope this answers your questions.
