Odd Problem

Post by CretanBull »

Hey,

I've just upgraded my computer and I've installed my MX212 in my new rig and I've encountered a problem that I've never had before...when I turn off my computer the MX212 stays on (ie lit up). I have a feeling that this has to do with my motherboard's USB settings (is power constantly being sent to the USB ports?) but I don't see any way of changing this in the system BIOS. Any suggestions?

I'm now using a A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard (my old one was an A7N8X-E Deluxe).

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey CretanBull,

Were you able to get the display working when you installed it? Like any communications?

The display works fine - the only problem is that it doesn't turn off when I shut down my computer so its constantly on (I'm worried about it burning out).

I've tried all of the USB ports on my computer - all having the same result. It seems to me that the problem is that my computer is constantly supplying power to the USB ports (although the lights on my mouse and keyboard turn off when I power down). I've checked my system BIOS as well as searched on Asus's website for some information but neither has solved my problem. I came here wondering if it was a common, or atleast a known, problem.

Does anyone else here have the same motherboard as I do?

I've got an A8N-SLI Premium and I have the problem of the display shutting off after the first few minutes from startup. Odd because you're having the opposite problem!

Also, you're one lucky cat for tracking down the A8N32, hard to come by. I'd have one myself if it weren't so darn scarce!

Are they really that hard to come by in your area? The store that I picked mine up at had over 10 of them in stock at the time and their current inventory lists a total of 37 (between 5 stores) and another 10+ as apart of their online inventory.

You can check out the store's web site here : http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowHome

And the link to the A8N32-SLI Deluxe is found here : http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.ph ... cid=MB.693

They do mail order and they are an extremely reliable company that I have no problem recomending. I've done almost all of my busines with them and have recomended them to just about everyone I know and I've never had a problem with them.

They currently are selling the A8N32-SLI Deluxe for $244.99 CND, which works out to be about $212 US at the current exchange rate. They also offer free shipping, although I'm not sure if that would apply to a package sent to America. That's the best price I've seen for this board, for example newegg (which usually has decent prices) is selling it for $245 US.
