Cannot power on the LCD

Post by amanda.k.tolefree-1 »

HI,

I am working on a school project, and I ordered the LK204-25 rev. 2.0 LCD from your company. I have downloaded the corresponding manual for this LCD, and I am having trouble powering it on.

I used the stardard module wiring for display in connecting 5V to VCC and grnd to grnd on the power/data connector. This did not power on the LCD.

In order to power on the LCD for standard module wiring, would I have to use the power through DB-9 jumper?

Or, would I have to use the TTL protocol instead of the RS232 protocal?

Is it possible to leave the select protocol as is (RS232), and use the V/VPT standard module wiring, and connect +12 volts and grnd to the power/data connector to power on the LCD?

I look forward to your response!

Hello Amanda,

Thank you for posting on the forum.

If you had ordered the regular LK204-25, then you should be able to turn it on by supplying power and ground, as how you have described it. Please make sure that you do have the standard module wiring cable.

To power the module, you do not need to use the power through DB-9 jumper.
You do not need to change the protocol jumpers to turn the module on.

It is possible to leave the protocol on RS232 BUT if you have a regular module, do NOT use the V/VPT standard module wiring and connect +12V. This will result in over voltage and permanent damage on the module which will not be covered by warranty, if any.
