newbie help - setting up VK202-25

I bought a vfd for a HUD project I've started for my Audi. I'm using uproject, and trying a bit with lcdsmartie. I can get the display to actually display if i enter text in uproject, and click 'send text'. The bar graph demo works too. Thats about it for uproject. Large digits, large digit clock, or using any of the sliders, except for VFD brightness displays a bunch of garbage. The sliders moved around scrolls back and forth thru all the characters the VFD can display. I can't say i've even got that far with lcdsmartie at this point, as the matrix.dll file in the drop down when setting the display brings up an error. i uninstalled it, and just downloaded it again to see if that fixes anything. Its on the other computer, so I won't know until later tonight if that worked. I installed LCDC prematurely, now the demo has expired so i can't play with that to see if its any better, and can't seem to clean it out of the system enough to give me another 30 day demo.

So, any help would be appreciated, once i get comfortable with it, i'll have some serious questions. ; )

*I should add, I DO have everything set for the 19200 baudrate

I sugges that you please go to lcdc to see what they can do to be able to give you another demo license.

so, assuming I don't want to use/pay for LCDC, why am I getting random characters when I try to use 'big clock' and such? I can understand maybe throwing out something weird when using the contrast slider, since its a VFD, and there is no contrast adjustment.

Hello achttung,

The large clock function only works properly on displays with 4 rows. And yes you are right, commands that do not pertain to your display will display garbage characters, this includes the large clock function for a 2x20 dispplay.
