MX6 series doing funny things on GPO#3

Post by Dgephri »

in my LCDC, I had been using PWM fades to make my LEDs throb.

25ms @ 5%
25ms @10% and so on.

But lately, my GPO #3 won't even come on at Startup, or show any indication in the Virtual display that it's doing anything.

I put my MM on it, and with nothing attached, the wires show 11.27V.

When I plug my LEDs into it and check the exposed fan plug tips, I get 4.91V.

Is it somehow current limiting down to 5V? These are the same LEDs I ran for several LAN competitions, and had flashing, etc.

I tried setting the GPO Power On in BootEdit, but that didn't change anything that I can tell.

Hello Dgephri,

I have a couple of questions:
1) What is the voltage/current rating of the LEDs you are using?
2) Are you using current limiting resistance on the LEDs?

Thanks,

they are 5mm rated at 20mA each...6 total, 3 blue, 3 white in Series that worked before.

Each has 2.1-2.3V drop, so IIRC I just put 82 Ohm or something in line.

Both LED circuits (6 LEDs each) work on GPO2 by themselves (GPO1 is PWM for fans) but neither works on GPO3.

Hello,

It sounds like your display may have a blown mosfet. Can you please contact support@matrixorbital.ca for an RMA contact?

Thanks,
