LK204-7T-1U-USB + mtx_ftdi_205 = BSOD

Post by TheQuestor »

Has anyone else started having problems with this combination? It was working fine for the last couple of months then Yesterday poof out of the blue I got a bluescreen on Vista x64. The error doesn't seem to show up in Vista's logs, but it started with 0x0000007f. I restored from the previous nights backup and it still bluescreened. I got frustrated and re-installed clean, but when I go to install the drivers for the LCD poof bluescreen. If I disable the unit in device manager all is well, well except no LCD :( Nothing has changed on this box in weeks so it is not a new piece of hardware or a changed driver.

Are there any newer signed drivers [Pressing F8 each time I boot SUCKS]?

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you entirely sure you have the right drivers? Our drivers have been signed for the last 1.5 years and should load on vista64 without issues. If you happen to have a minidump (stored in C:\windows\minidumps usually) of one of your recent blue screen's I'd like to take a look at one.

I may have been wrong on the signed drivers, and I am using 2.4.4.0 drivers dated 6/27/2007

they do show as signed.

But the problem still exists, I have to unplug the usb cable or my system bluescreens at the time the lights come on on the unit. It does this for every OS I have installed.

I tried a couple clean installs of Vista x86 and x64 and until I install the drivers the system boots normally. As soon as I install the FTDI 2.4.4.0 drivers and then reboot, poof bluescreen on init.

I can though boot normally, then plug in the usb cable and start my LCDSmartie and it works fine.

Please advise.

I saw that FTDI had 2.4.6 available I did the modifications required for our pid/vid and signed the package so they'd load on X64 i'll PM you the link, please let me know if this make it behave any better on your computer.

Unfortunatly they did not. :(

It still bluescreens unless I unplug the device then boot up and then plug the drive back in.

Tried it on Windows Vista SP1 and Windows 7
This is also a new motherboard and it did it on the old motherboard as well so it is not a motherboard compatibility issue either.

Also it still says the drivers are unsigned :(

Thanks for getting back to me so fast on this though :)
