LK204: It was too tempting...

Post by runa »

I plugged my LK204 to the unmodified 3.5 inch floppy drive's cable.
After that, I readed the manual and I found that I should _not_ do that, but it was too late.

Then, I modified the cable (replaced the yellow cable with one of the black ones) and It didn't worked... After re-reading the manual I found that there were 2 versions (standard and Option V), and after searching for a 'V' in the module I found a HUGE one written at the right of the model string. I modified the cable again (replaced the red cable with the yellow one) but It still doesn't works (using linux with mtxorb and the sample app)...

Now: is my module screwed? How can I test it?

pd: I'll try to remember to RTFM first, the next time

Yep, I would say that your module is most likely dead :(

You've finally made the right power cable for it? What happens when you power on? Does the backlight turn on and a flashing cursor appear in the top left?

It works!
I was very sad and angry with myself for not reading the manual first and I left my computer for some hours.
Then, I came back and when I moved the module the backlight turned on! :)

It was a problem with the cable!

Thanks a lot :)

You are a very lucky person :) glad to hear it worked out for you... next time, RTFM :D

(don't worry, I have a stack of dead LCDs and VFDs from doing the same thing)
