help!!! serial port driver problem

Post by _VeNoM_ »

hey, i dont know why but ive followed your guides and for some reason the pc notices the driver and i therefore install it but after the install it comes up there was a problem installing the serial port driver. does anyone know why this could be? i have the matrix mx222. i manage to install the main drivers ok. also windows isnt noticing them on its own i have to install via device manager. cheers for any wisdom shared.

sometimes i cant get it to install because it asks for the ftdi usb driver disk, now if i point it to the usb driver folder it loads the driver but afterwards says windows encountered a problem.

Hi there
Yours is a well known problem. One which I've also encountered and was unable to solve without doing a complete WinXP reintall.
I believe the problem is caused by a third party ASPI layer.
Anyway, try this link for help.

Hello...

This may be a solution if you are running Windows XP...
You must totally remove the old drivers before you install the new V1.1...the only way that it worked for me was to go to "control panel"...click on "add/remove programs"...then search for MO Drivers and click Remove. It seems that windows does not like to totally remove stuff any other way. NOTE: when doing this, make sure that your display is disconnected...after removing the old drivers, plug the USB cable back in and when it says "new hardware found", have the Hardware Wizard point to the new drivers (V1.1) that you downloaded from the link above. This has worked perfectly for me and a few others that I know...Good luck!
