Is it ok to forgo the extra stuff on the gpo (relay, etc) when just connecting up a LED?

What voltage LED for attaching to the LK204-25-PC?

Is there a rule like "If connecting Fans, this, and that, use the relay. When using LEDs, this , that then they can run solo."???

The rule is this - the gpo can only give out so much power, you try and draw too much (by connecting a fan for example) and you'll blow the gpo controller mi-jiggie.

Read the manual for the your display I'll think you'll find it's 5V and just enough to power an led without anything special, cheers,

So it'll eat a 5v LED for lunch? (Burn it up if I attach it all by its lonesome?)

this will help you out... the supply voltage is 12V, the Dioda forward Voltage is usualy about 2V and the Diode Rated current is about 20mA... These two last values are based on the LED rating it self. By no means are they all the same.. you will have to get the specs or use a voltage meter to figure it out.
