Faulty MX610 display or wrong setting?

Post by lazytoad »

Hi, first post and new to VFD displays. Just wired in my brand new MX610 but I have a line on the display. :( It's about 3 quarters of an inch to the right hand side of the display. It's a pixel wide and goes down across on both rows at the same place. Very annoying!! Is the display broke (it goes from dull barely seen to full on brightness periodically. I am hoping I have a setting wrong but not sure if I am that lucky! Very frustrated as otherwise it looks sooooo good! Please help....

Thanks,

Lazytoad

Hi Lazytoad.

Thanks for posting. Have you tried turning off the computer disconnecting all wries and then re assembling them and try a different usb port? Let me know if that works.

Thanks for the quick reply Nick.

I've reinstalled the drivers, changed USB ports and checked all the wires but it's still doing it. It has improved somewhat but it's still visible and annoying. Sometimes it completely goes for half an hour and then it come back with vengeance. No amount of wiggling and poking wires makes it go. I'm sure I read before I got the display something about screen sizes (number of characters) being different and wondered if this was anything to do with it but can't find the post again and see nowhere to make such an adjustment. The software is seeing it as a MX6** so I'd imagine it should be OK? I have had a good play with the contrast/brightness levels as well to see if it would drop out but this makes no difference. Any other ideas?

Thanks for you help.

Hi lazytoad,

Can you post a picture of your display, so I get a better idea of what the display looks like?

Hi Tom,

I'm currently travelling for work but will be home by the end of the week and can post a picture then. Wanted to do it originally but as always - I want to use my camera and the batteries are flat....

Thanks for the help!

Tom,

here is a picture as promised, sorry the quality is not great, took it with my phone but please note the lines to the right of the display. They also get much brighter than they show up here sometimes. Seem to dim other times. I pasted spaces on the display to clear it using one of the utilties but it still shows.

Thank you.
