A/C Adapter, Fabricating a case, etc.

Hey I've got a LK204-25-GW-V that I'm using for barcode feedback for a shop management system in a machine shop.

I've got a wireless-to-serial box that runs the barcode scanner and the LCD and everything is working.

My question is this - I need to power the LCD with an a/c adapter - I've got a 12V adapter laying around; will it be OK? Does anyone know how I tell which wire is negative? One wire has writing, the other has solid dashes.

I'll be mounting the LCD in a box that the shop guys will fabricate, and I want it to look slick, with plugs on the back and everything. Right now it's mounted in the MO box.

Hi Alkaloid,

I understand you are looking to power your LK204-25-GW-V display using a 12V adapter.

As far is the display is concerned, the -V extended voltage model will operate from 9 to 15 volts dc. If you're using a power and communication cable, and connecting a female floppy style connector to your power supply, please note the wiring on cable will not be what you'd expect. Check using continuity first, but I believe you'll find the blue wire is VCC and the red is GND.

As for the adapter, please check it out using a volt meter first, and oscilloscope as well if possible. Your display can handle 9 to 15 volts so 12 should be fine, but it will appreciate a nice clean supply; one that does not fluctuate.
