LK612-12 I2C Jumper Settings

Post by KevinH »

I recently purchased a Maxim display from Digikey, Digikey stock# 635-1011-ND. The manual referenced from Digkey is for the LK162-12 Rev4. The manual description and photos for jumper settings does not match the product I received. The board number on the received unit is a LVPK162-12, board rev 3.0. There's a bank of jumpers at the edge of the board for I2C, TTL and RS232. The RS232 jumpers are actually surface mount resistors.
Does anyone know if the RS232 resistors need to be removed for I2C communications? I'm assuming the jumper blocks in the I2C section need to be set (the manual states taht the LK162 board is configured for I2C by default).

Any insight on the board I have and how to configure the hardware for I2C communications would be GREATLY appreciated.

The manual digikey is linking is indeed for an old revision (manual revision 4 of the rev 2 pcb, yah confusing i agree), the latest hardware is rev 3 of which you can find the manual here.

If you want to use i2c mode you indeed need to remove the resistors on the rs232 pads and make connections on the i2c pads.

The resistors used to are just zero ohm resistors so a small blob of solder will do just as wel.

If you have any more questions please let me know.
