HELP PLEASE

Post by Newtester »

Hello, I am using Windows XP Professional. I had a problem with the baud rate seeing as my PIC18F2685 would send data to it and it would not display the characters and numbers I wanted. I used the jumper as data sheet given, i reset the LCD (LK162-12_220) to the factory settings. I changed the baud rate to 9600 which I wanted to do. The only problem is that everytime I unpower the LCD and repower it, what appears on the screen are the same random characters. I can clear it using the uproject but nothing can be changed and the baude rate returns to factory setting. I tried manually overriding the LCD using both the steps on the manual and on the new LK12 manual from the Matrix Orbital website. I don't know how to save the settings that I set using the Tuner. I went to the forums and saw that one way would be to sent a Start Remember, change the settings and a Stop Remember and then execute. still same problem, I'm trying to use the RS232

my board Rev is 3.0 model of the lcd is LK162-12

When i got the LCD it work perfect, but two weeks before it start to give me this problem, so can anybody help me to slove this problem please...

i thought it is problem with my C program,so i test my program with my buddy's LCD, it is working........ so it something wrong with LCD... :(

Hi,

From listening to your situation I suspect that the changes are not being saved. Here is a link to the manual.

http://www.matrixorbital.ca/manuals/LK_ ... 162-12.pdf

Check out chapter 11. Specifically the 11.2, 11.3, and 11.4

You are going to want to make sure that the remember feature has been enable and that the data security has been turned off; then you simply change the baud rate and the unit should remember the new baud rate.

hi, i tried what you said, but it doesn't help me, its still didn't show me anything but the baudrate changed and keep it as 9600, somehow the display didn't show any text or number that i'm trying to print on my LCD.

We were able to set the baud rate to 9600. However, when I try to send text (after disconnecting it from the uProject program) from my PIC18F2685 to the LCD, no text appears. I can clear the screen by sending a command from my PIC micro controller but nothing else.

Hi,

At this point I would test your display with uProject, here is a link to the downloads section of our support website:

http://www.matrixorbital.ca/software/software_alpha/

uProject will allow you to test the functionality of your LK from any PC. Once you know the display is working, you know it's a code or local hardware issue. If you would like, post your code and I'll take a look at it, but be warned, my PIC days are a few years ago, so I may not be able to offer that much help :hip:

Hi,

Unfortunately, Brian is off for the week, but I'm sure he'll get the message once he's back.
