Dear Matrix Orbital
I have recently integrated the above device into a terminal together with a wireless CPU device. I have found that I can't drive the screen via USB as both the screen and the CPU board have USB slave connections.
I need to modify the LK204-25-USB to use in RS232 mode. Fortunately my screens have the RS232 header installed. I understand that I have to remove the three USB protocol select solder jumpers and install them on the three RS232 jumpers.
I plan to use the Power Connector to supply 5V to power the screen.
Will this work OK?
Thanks for your help on this.
Kind regards
Stuart
LK204-25-USB - using in RS232 mode
Hello Stuart,
Thank you for posting on the forum.
The LK204-25-USB display module does have the RS232 matrix connection in there, and theoretically should work. I have not tried this myself, nor heard of someone done this but I can think of some notes when you do this mod:
1. First off, you are voiding the warranty when you do these modifications.
2. Move the zero ohm resistors to 232.
3. Power the module using the Alternate Power Connection. Please pay attention to the pin out.
4. For communication. you will need to make some special cable, which you will connect to pins TX, RX and GND of the Serial Header.
For the Alternate Power connection and the Serial Header details, please see the manual
Let me know how it turns out.
Best Regards,
