412 + 12v Fan

Post by moggy006 »

Hi, um i wondered if you could answer a few questions i have, ive tried the manual and the forums etc but i cant seem to find exactly what i have to do.

Im trying to use a GPO on my MX412 (LK-204-24-USB) to control a 12v 120mm Case fan. The fan is currently powered by a 4 pin standard molex.

Am i right in thinking i have to use GPO 4/5/6, connect a floppy power cable and unsolder jumper 2 on the PCB? And then do i need the fan to have a 3 pin molex instead.. can i rewire this?

Any help would be much appreciated

oh, the fan is the YS-Tech FD1238

Welcome to the forums...

The cable you need is a 4 pin to 3 pin converter, we sell them here

http://www.matrixorbital.com/product_in ... an-cooling

you can make your own as well, take a 3 pin cable, cut the end off and a 4 pin cable. solder them together, making sure you use heat shrink so you don't short out the cables.

Hope this helps...

moggy006,

You don't need to unsolder anything either. We placed a fuse, so you wouldn't have to. I apologize for this in the manual, but the manuals are in the process of being updated.

If you have anymore questions or concerns, please feel free to post them.
